Serving members of the trades embraced by: British Jewellers’ Association, British Luggage and Leathergoods Association, The Giftware Association, Jewellery Distributors’ Association, SEA

The Society came into being on 2 June 1980 through the joining together of the former British Jewellery and Giftware Federation Benevolent Fund (formed in 1939) and the Leathergoods Benevolent Society (formed in 1924) and came about as a result of the acceptance into membership of the Federation of the British Leathergoods Manufacturers’ Association.

It is sometimes erroneously though that the “Welfare State” adequately provides for those in need but this is not always the case and there are many cases where hardship and financial stress are not adequately covered by the Social Services system.

It is therefore singularly appropriate for the trades covered by the Federation to ensure that old and worthy personnel who have given long and faithfully service have a particular charity to which they may turn in case of need.

The member trade associations within the Federation are:

  • British Jewellers’ Association
  • British Luggage and Leathergoods Association
  • The Giftware Association
  • Jewellery Distributors’ Association
  • Surface Engineering Association

The Trustees largely depend upon members of the Federation to bring to their attention any such cases which are known or become known to them and request members to do so without hesitation. They can be assured that all applications will receive sympathetic consideration.
